Tiger Woods Design hired to develop new courses in the Bahamas
Tiger Woods Design has been hired to create a new ten-hole golf course in the Bahamas, with plans also released for a full 18-hole course at the same site.
The course will form part of a new resort named Jack’s Bay, which is located near Rock Sound on the island of Eleuthera. Tiger Woods Design will be working with Beacon Land Development and Jack’s Bay Developers on the project.
A number of the short course’s holes lie directly on the island’s eastern coastline, metres from the sea itself.
Provisional plans for an 18-hole course at the resort have also emerged, with Tiger Woods Design working as the golf course consultant and Beau Welling Design hired in a land planning consultant capacity.
Though subject to change, the highlights of this initial design include a short par-three fourth hole which plays directly parallel to the ocean, and a similar challenge for golfers on the twelfth hole.
Holes seven and eight play around a small lake, with golfers having to navigate water from the tee.
The course’s opening and closing holes are also its longest. The par-five first hole plays 612 yards, while golfers complete their round by taking on another par-five hole – the 596 yard eighteenth.
The new short course and 18-hole course continues Tiger Woods Design’s relationship with Beacon Land Development, with the two companies having worked together at Bluejack National, which opened last year.
