The January 2020 issue of Golf Course Architecture is out now!

The January 2020 issue of Golf Course Architecture magazine is out now, along with the GCA Green Pages 2020 supplier directory, in both printed and digital formats.

The cover of this latest issue of GCA features Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. Richard Humphreys and Toby Ingleton report on their visit to the new Kyle Phillips design.

Our main feature article explores short par threes. Tiny holes can often be the most memorable on the course. Golf course architects from around the world – including Bill Coore, Neal Meagher, Philip Spogárd, Jonathan Davison, Colton Craig, Ron Forse and Bill Bergin – share their views.

We also have reports from site visits to Loch Lomond Golf Club in Scotland, where an enormous renovation project to transform the drainage is in progress, and Golf International de Roissy-en-France in Paris, where Michel Niedbala has created a new golf course that is preserving green space near Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport.

David Thomas explains how Worcestershire Golf Club discovered an Alister Mackenzie-designed green that had been out of play for 80 years. There is news of Rees Jones’s redesign work at the LPGA International Busan course in South Korea; Todd Quitno talks about his three-year renovation project at Schaumburg Golf Club; and we hear about the new bunker strategy that Caspar Grauballe has created for Hedeland Golf Club in Denmark.

The January 2020 issue of Golf Course Architecture also comes with our GCA Green Pages 2020 supplier directory, which includes company profiles of potential partners for your next golf design project. We also hear about the work completed by some of these firms, including Jackson Kahn Design, Rain Bird, ZLine Bunker Systems, MJ Abbott, GolfLink Evolve, de Reus Architects, Dye Designs, Mike Gogel Golf Design and Jansen Golf Design.

Just as this issue was going to press, we learned that Pete Dye had passed away. The legendary architect transformed the golf industry and was a mentor to many, including Bill Coore, Bobby Weed, Tom Doak and Tim Liddy. Visit our website to read more, and we will reflect further on Dye’s life and designs in our next issue.
