The April 2020 issue of Golf Course Architecture is out now!
The April 2020 issue of Golf Course Architecture magazine is out now in both printed and digital formats.
The cover of this latest issue of GCA features Les Bordes in France. Gil Hanse talks with Richard Wax about his design of the New course.
Our main feature article pays tribute to legendary golf course designer Pete Dye, who passed away at the start of 2020. Golf course architects including Bill Coore, Jim Nagle, Forrest Richardson, Bobby Weed, Ron Forse, Bruce Charlton, Tom Doak, Christoph Staedler and plenty more talk about Dye’s influence on golf course design and share their stories of him.
We also have reports from site visits to Costa Palmas Golf Club in Mexico, where the Robert Trent Jones II firm has designed a ‘symphony of sand’, and the Navarino Hills development in Greece, where Olazabal Design is making progress with the construction of two new golf courses.
Elsewhere in the issue, Peter Harradine rages about the presence of unnecessary bunkers on golf courses, while Sam Sakocius reports on Saudi Arabia’s ambitious plans that the country hopes will turn it into a major player in the world golf market.
There is also news of a huge Fry/Straka renovation in New Jersey, for Union League National Golf Club; Tim Lobb talks about the landscape and heather restoration work he has been undertaking at British golf clubs; and we hear about the progress being made on Faldo Design’s new Rumanza golf course in Pakistan.
There’s plenty more too – enjoy the issue!
