Swan Golf Designs hired to carry out review of courses at Moray Golf Club
Moray Golf Club has hired Swan Golf Designs to audit both of its 18-hole courses.
Located in Lossiemouth, Scotland, the Old Course at Moray was designed by Old Tom Morris in 1889. The New Course was laid out by Henry Cotton in the 1970s.
Cotton worked with golf course engineer Alex Swan as a consultant on the new course. Alex Swan’s son Howard and grandson William now lead Swan Golf Designs.
“As a golf destination, Moray Golf Club is immensely important,” said Howard Swan. “It is traditional links land of great proportion which has hosted some serious championships over the years. It is a golf club of some calibre.”
Henry Cotton and Alex Swan worked with Farquhar Thomson on the development of the New Course at Moray GC, and his son John Thomson is now captain of the club.
“This is a hugely important step for Moray Golf Club and for the development of the New Course in particular as it approaches its 40th anniversary in 2019,” John Thomson said. “Moray is a special place, especially for lovers of traditional links golf. We want to make our courses relevant and challenging now and in the future.”
