Rees Jones hired to lead renovation project at Shadow Wood CC
Golf course architect Rees Jones has been appointed to lead a renovation project at the Shadow Wood Country Club in Bonita Springs, Florida.
The project will focus on the club’s North and South courses. Work is set to begin in the summer.
Both courses were originally designed by Bob Cupp, and the club is keen to preserve the character of both layouts.
Jay Sandza, chair of the club’s grounds committee, said: “The combination of Rees’ experience, his skilled team of designers and his friendship with Bob Cupp makes for the perfect combination for Shadow Wood Country Club as it evolves in the years to come.”
Jones will visit the club this month, before returning in late February for a detailed discussion with club staff on what to focus the renovation work on.
“We are pleased to have been selected to provide design services for Shadow Wood Country Club,” said Jones. “It is our intention to enhance the playing experience for both the North and South golf courses while maintaining the original design concepts, playability, shot options and enjoyment for all members.”
As well as the North and South courses, Shadow Wood is also home to a third 18-hole track – the Preserve Course – which was originally designed by Arthur Hills.
The first phase of work will take place during the summer months of 2017, with more set to take place in the summer of 2018.
