Plans for new golf complex at UK’s Rossington Hall gaining momentum

A new golf complex could soon be coming to the UK after development plans received the backing by the local council.

The European Tour has also given its backing to the a new golf destination at Rossington Hall near Doncaster, UK.

Plans include the development of a tournament quality 18-hole course and separate nine-hole course at the 500-acre site. Other developments will include a clubhouse, leisure facilities and 500 luxury homes.

The Rossington Hall Golf Development (RHGD) scheme has been back by the Doncaster Council, and the city’s mayor Ros Jones said: “This is tremendous news for Doncaster. Last year, Yorkshire welcomed the Tour de France and it would be another boost for the region to welcome top golfing stars in the future. It’s a real feather in our cap that Doncaster has been chosen as part of the expansion of the European Tour Properties exclusive network of world class golf destinations.”

“Rossington Hall is the ideal location for tournament golf, with Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the national motorway and rail network on its doorstep,” Jones added. “Doncaster is on the up as a tourist destination with visitor numbers to our wide range of attractions going from strength to strength. The town is establishing itself as one of the best places in the country to live, work, visit, invest in and do business from. Our strategic vision and plans for the borough are paying off.”

The Rossington Hall Golf Developments company was created by four Doncaster businessmen specifically to convert the Rossington Hall site, and the firm issued a statement expressing its joy at the backing it has received from the European Tour.

David MacLaren, director of Property and Venue Development at The European Tour, said: “We are delighted to offer our support to The Rossington Hall golf project and hope to bring both a long-term relationship and top flight professional tournament golf to the venue once it is developed. We see huge potential with both this development and the region and look forward to a prosperous partnership.”

An outline planning application for the project, which has received the support of Welcome to Yorkshire, will be submitted later this year.
