Plans finalised for redesign of course at Exeter Golf and Country Club
Plans have been finalised for alterations to the course at Exeter Golf and Country Club in Devon, UK.
Following weeks of consultation, the club’s board has approved a project that will see work carried out over the next six months.
James Braid originally designed the course at Exeter Golf and Country Club. Golf course architect Tom MacKenzie of the MacKenzie Ebert firm will lead the upcoming project.
Initial work will see the extension of the tee on the course’s original sixteenth hole, as well as the construction of a new green and pond on the eighteenth hole. A new eighth hole will also be constructed. The full 18 holes will remain open throughout the project.
“I am delighted that the alteration work has commenced earlier than expected so that we will have all the work completed for the 2016 golf season,” said Will Gannon, chairman of Exeter Golf and Country Club. “We are also very pleased that the golf course will remain open as an 18-hole course throughout the work. The next few months will be exciting as we see the new golf course take shape. The new course has an increased yardage which will create a new, more challenging experience for our golfers.”
Other elements of the project will be revealed to the public in due course.
