Ocean Course at Hammock Beach reopens following renovation work
The Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida, has reopened following a renovation project.
Work has been led by a team from Nicklaus Design, the firm behind the course’s original design, and began last year after the course was damaged by Hurricane Matthew.
David Savic of Nicklaus Design oversaw the regrassing of all fairways, greens and roughs on the course with Platinum Paspalum. This resilient grass will be able to withstand the changing seasonal temperatures seen in Florida throughout the year.
Each tee box, bunker and green complex on the course has also been reconstructed as part of the work. New forward tees have also been added to the course as part of the recent work.
The dune line that runs alongside the course is also being carefully restored, in line with Florida’s state conservational specifications.
