Norman team completes 27-hole renovation at TPC Sugarloaf

Greg Norman Golf Course Design has overseen the completion of a 27-hole renovation at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Georgia.

The project saw tees, fairways and greens resurfaced — greens have been grassed with TifEagle bermuda and fairways with Zeon Zoysia.

Bunkers have also been rebuilt across the 27 holes using liner from Capillary Concrete and Ecobunker stacked faces, with repurposed artificial turf from school yards and ball fields. Work on bunkers saw the Norman team assisted by contractor MacCurrach Golf Construction and Milan Moore, golf course design associate at PGA Tour.

A new Toro irrigation system has been installed and cart paths have been resurfaced.

“I was delighted to have the privilege of returning to TPC Sugarloaf alongside the PGA Tour to modernise it and restore it to its original form,” said Norman. “These are beautiful layouts that I have always been incredibly proud of, and the renovations will significantly improve the club’s ability to continue to rank among high profile properties within the state and across the country.”

The property features three nine-hole loops, all of which were designed by Norman; The Stables and The Meadows opened in 1997, while The Pines opened in 2000.

“We are thrilled to finally be finished with this large-scale renovation, which we could not have done without the help of Greg Norman and his design team,” said Mike Maloney, general manager of TPC Sugarloaf. “This will give us the opportunity to better serve our members and guests for years to come.”
