New Peterhof Golf Club course opens for play in Russia
A new golf course has recently opened for play near St Petersburg, Russia.
Designed by Hills Forrest International Golf Course Architects, the new 18-hole Peterhof Golf Club is located close to the city’s Peterhof and Konstantinovsky palaces.
The course is 5,911 metres in length, with a par of 71.
Highlights of the design include a testing par five opening hole, with players having to negotiate a lake to the right of the fairway, and a heavily protected green.
Water is a significant factor on the course, with no fewer than six different pools and lakes included. The thirteenth and fourteenth holes play over and across the same lake, while the short par three sixteenth plays to a green surrounded by water and bunkers, meaning an overhit shot will be punished.
