New 12-hole par-three course opens for preview play at Trappers Turn

A new 12-hole par-three course co-designed by two-time US Open champion Andy North and Oliphant Golf has opened for preview play at Trappers Turn Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

The 12North layout is located on a 15-acre parcel of land and has holes ranging from 65 to 120 yards. It joins the club’s existing 27 holes, comprising the Arbor, Canyon and Lake nines.

“I’m thrilled to return to the course that I spent so much time developing with my late friend and design partner Roger Packard,” said North. “With the par-three course, my team worked to provide an unconventional, challenging and unforgettable experience for golfers of every skill level.”

Construction of 12North began in mid-September 2019 and was led by Oliphant Golf architect Craig Haltom. The layout features large undulating greens, elevation change and panoramic views of the entire property.

“Between Andy’s years of experience as a player and designer, and Craig’s immense passion for course architecture, we found the perfect team to bring this incredible course to life,” said Patrick Steffes, director of golf and general manager at Trappers Turn.

Speaking at a press preview event, North said: “We want people to have fun and hit some great shots, hopefully we’ll see some hole-in-ones and plenty of birdies. Players can even putt their tee shot!”
