Harley Kruse named as new president of the SAGCA

Harley Kruse has been elected as president of the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects (SAGCA).

Kruse replaces Ted Parslow, an original founding member of the SAGCA who served four years as President. Paul Mogford has been elected as vice president, and Paul Reeves has been re-elected as Secretary/Treasurer.

Kruse has worked for the design firms of both Peter Thomson and Greg Norman, before establishing his own practice. His design portfolio includes the Dunes course at Danang Golf Club in Vietnam (while working for Norman) and Settlers Run near Melbourne.

Speaking after his election at the SAGCA’s 27th Annual General Meeting, Kruse said: “In the golf course design world, which has become truly global and where our members are designing and remodeling courses in Australia, the Asia Pacific region, and indeed as far away as Scotland and the United States, my mission as President is to put the SAGCA on the front foot and see us promote both the services and the excellent work that our members do.

“From a humble country course, through to city golf clubs and to the development of new courses, I would like to see a greater awareness of the value of excellent design and the services that our members can bring to the table.

“Importantly, I look forward to growing our existing relationships within the golf industry and at the same time forging new ones.”
