Goat Hill Park course grand reopening takes place following renovations
A grand opening of the golf course at Goat Hill Park in Oceanside, California, has taken place following renovation work.
The project was overseen by a group named Goat Hill Partners LLC, led by John Ashworth, the man behind golf apparel and footwear company Linksoul.
Numerous parties made site visits to the course to advise on the work, which cost in the region of US$3.6 million. This included Tom Doak, Geoff Ogilvy, Kye Goalby, Brian Slawnick and Matt Ginella.
“They all gave some great input but in the end I worked with an experienced shaper named Juan Ramos, who did a great job of renovating the areas we that needed improving,” Ashworth told GCA. “We are getting excellent feedback on the work and the re-opening has been a smashing success!”
The course at Goat Hill Park is now a par 65, having previously been a par 66, after one of the course’s par four holes was altered to become a par three.
Other elements of the work included a new turf reduction programme, while new landscaping, grasses and irrigation have also been introduced.
