Full list of speakers and topics confirmed for Scottish Design Masters

The full list of speakers for next month’s Scottish Design Masters event has been finalised.

Taking place from 28 February to 3 March 2017 in Inverness, Scotland, the event will be hosted by GCA editor Adam Lawrence, and includes a number of guest speakers who will cover a range of interesting topics from across the golf architecture industry.

The speaker list includes Martin Ebert, who will provide a practitioner’s view of Scottish golf architecture and his thoughts on how it has shaped golf course design throughout the world. His partner Tom Mackenzie will discuss Scottish golf course architecture heritage and how it has influenced the work of his Mackenzie & Ebert firm.

Thad Layton of Arnold Palmer Golf Design, who will provide a case study of the new Arnold Palmer Course at Castle Stuart (pictured).

Other speakers include Bob Harrison, the Australian architect behind the new golf course built on the Scottish island of Jura, who will share his story of the project, while Gordon Irvine will lead a presentation on the restoration of Askernish Golf Club in South Uist, Scotland.

Attendees will also be able to visit a number of prestigious courses in Northern Scotland, including Brora, Golspie, Dornoch, Tain, Boat of Garten, Nairn, Castle Stuart and Fortrose & Rosemarkie.
