Fry/Straka to start renovation of Tour course at Weston Hills

Weston Hills Country Club in Weston, Florida, will soon begin renovation work on its Tour course and build a new short game area, working with golf course architects Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design.

The Tour course was originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and built in 1990, and was once home to the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic.

Fry/Straka will oversee the renovation of bunkers, regrassing with Celebration bermuda on all fairways and the design and construction of a new short game area.

“We have a true jewel here that is getting the polish it deserves,” said Eric von Hofen, general manager at Weston Hills. “Weston Hills is an important part of this community and our mission is to breathe new life into this special place. It is an exciting time at Weston Hills.”

Owner-operator Arcis Golf has invested significant resources to upgrade facilities, programming and amenities at Weston Hills since it took over club operations in August 2018.

“As stewards of one of the most venerable private clubs in South Florida, we are proud to be part of an exciting future at Weston Hills Country Club,” said Blake Walker, founder and CEO of Arcis Golf. “Arcis is committed to building upon the superior reputation of Weston Hills by significantly enhancing the contemporary member experience and lifestyle, both on and off the golf course.”

The golf course project is scheduled to be complete this autumn.
