Fall 2020 issue of ASGCA’s By Design magazine is out now

The Fall 2020 issue of the American Society of Golf Course Architects’ By Design magazine is now available in digital format.

The issue’s cover story – Watch this space – features five clubs that, with the guidance of a golf course architect, have found a creative solution to broaden their offering, either through reconfiguring an existing layout or transforming a small parcel of land.

This issue is By Design’s fiftieth, and to celebrate this milestone, the digital magazine has been redesigned to provide readers with a fresh and clean reading experience, whether it be via a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Toby Ingleton, editor of By Design and founder of Golf Course Architecture, also marks the occasion by reflecting on the first fifty issues of the ASGCA publication.

Elsewhere, Brandon Johnson talks about one of his favourite features on a golf course, the single bunker; Jeff Langner of Profile Products provides an insight into his organisation’s role in the development of the Compass Pointe course in North Carolina; and By Design examines a page from the sketchbook of Kyle Phillips – an original green sketch for the fifteenth hole at the new PGA National Czech Republic course at Oaks Prague.

Also in this issue of By Design is news that the 2020 ASGCA Annual Meeting and 2021 Golf Industry Show are both moving to virtual formats for the first time, a round-up of ASGCA news, and USGA chief executive officer Mike Davis discussing Winged Foot on the ASGCA Insights podcast.

By Design is free of charge – visit the By Design page of the ASGCA website to subscribe and review the back catalogue of digital editions.
