Extensive renovations set for TPC Prestancia in 2017
TPC Prestancia will be restoring the greens of its Club Course to their original design as part of an extensive renovation project, which will begin in the new year.
Bob Holzman, general manager of the US course in Florida, has confirmed to GCA that Illinois irrigation and construction services firm Leibold Irrigation will be managing the entire project.
“They will be working from the original plans to restore the greens and other course features to their original size and shape,” he said. “They have done other work for us in the past with great results.”
The greens on the Robert Von Hagge and Bruce Devlin designed championship golf course will be reshaped and re-grassed with Champion Bermuda for a consistent putting surface, while the fairways will be restored to include their original contours. They will then be planted with Celebration Bermuda.
The project also includes bunker enhancements, the installation of a Toro irrigation system, drainage work and the reshaping and levelling of the tee complexes to enhance the character of each hole.
The Club Course will be closed from 1 May to October next year while work takes place.
“The improvements to the Club Course will improve course conditions, playability and pace of play delivering a completely new look and feel,” said Holzman.
