Courses at Harborside International to undergo renovations
The two golf courses at Harborside International Golf Center near Chicago, Illinois, are to undergo a series of renovations.
Lohmann Golf Design will oversee the project from an architectural perspective, partnering with management firm KemperSports, who will be overseeing the construction element.
Upgrades will be made to selected bunkering across the club’s two courses – the Port course and the Starboard course – both of which were originally designed by Dick Nugent.
Better Billy Bunker technology will be added to the bunkers, helping to improve drainage and support cost-effective maintenance.
A number of out of play bunkers will also be removed as part of the work, helping to make the course more playable for higher-handicap players.
While the project is taking place, golfers will be able to play an 18-hole route that combines the back nine of both the Port and Starboard courses.
“We are confident that this renovation will set Harborside International on a path for continued success,” said Steve Skinner, KemperSports CEO. “We look forward to remaining Chicago’s Home for Golf for many years to come and we are excited for our loyal golfers to come enjoy an enhanced experience at Harborside.”
