The Winter 2017 of the American Society of Golf Course Architects’ (ASGCA) By Design magazine is now available.
This issue’s cover story examines the future of the profession of golf course architecture and the changes that could take place in the industry by 2030. ASGCA members consider what is causing these changes, from technological developments to the influence of the new generation.
The Digest section includes the list of projects and architects honoured as part of the ASGCA’s 2017 list of Design Excellence Recognition Program. There is also a report on the new golf course designed by Forrest Richardson, ASGCA, which is set to open in spring 2018 on the site of the Palo Alto Municipal golf course.
This issue includes a feature on accessibility in golf, which explores the ways golf course architects can adapt their designs to make them more inclusive and allow players with mobility issues or disabilities to better enjoy the game.
Chris Wilczynski, ASGCA, discusses his own golfing abilities, the one thing he would change about the rules of golf and his work on a renovation project at the Wanakah Country Club in Buffalo, New York.
By Design also pays tribute to Pennsylvanian architect David William Gordon, who recently passed away aged 95.
