Chris Wilczynski is overseeing work at Forest Lake Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, for the club’s ‘Top of the Hill’ project to enhance the area around the entrance and clubhouse.

Work on the golf facilities includes a new tee complex at the first hole, a new green for the par-four sixth, a new grass tee and artificial mats at the driving range, and a new 7,500-square-foot putting green. The club is also updating the halfway house and other facilities.

“I was contacted by the club in 2021 to develop an updated plan for the Top of the Hill project, which is essentially the first impression of the club and the entrance to the golf course,” said Wilczynski, who has consulted for the club since 2012. “The opportunity to make this footprint more functional by expanding the practice areas, improving the circulation, and enhancing the aesthetics and ‘sense of place’ will give the club a more inviting and elevated feel from the moment you arrive.”

MacCurrach Golf Construction is executing the work with Michael Kuhn & Associates responsible for irrigation design. Forest Lake’s golf course superintendent Ryan Moore is managing the day-to-day project activities. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of November.

Future work on the course includes rebuilding and repositioning bunkers on holes nine to 18. “The bunker work on these holes will also considerably improve the playing experience,” said Wilczynski.
