Pinehurst Resort has launched a new website enabling golfers to track the course of the radical restoration project currently being undertaken on the Number 2 course by the design firm of Coore and Crenshaw.
The website, www.pinehurstnumber2.com, will feature regularly updated photos, information, trivia and video, including commentary from Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore.
“With all the excitement about the restoration of No. 2, we wanted to give golfers a place where they could see and hear about all the work that’s been done, as well as get a taste of what they’ll encounter the next time they play No. 2,” said Tom Pashley, the resort’s executive vice president of marketing.
The course is scheduled to reopen on 4 March following a yearlong project to restore the natural and strategic character to the course that had been lost over time. The course now will have no rough, larger playing areas and a natural aesthetic reminiscent of Donald Ross’ original design.
GCA will be visiting Pinehurst later this week to review progress on the restoration of No. 2. Keep an eye on this site for a report on our visit.
