Troon is to manage the Potomac Shores Golf Club in Virginia, which is scheduled to open this spring.

Located 30 minutes from Washington D.C., the new course will be the areas first daily-fee Jack Nicklaus Signature Design.

The new 18-hole course covers 7,082 yards from the back tees and will be a par-72. The course features dramatic elevation changes, is surrounded by hardwood forest and runs along the banks of the Potomac River.

The course will be part of the Potomac Shores community, which is being developed by SunCal.

“With Potomac Shores offering a truly unique and luxurious Jack Nicklaus Signature Design, it made perfect sense to support that experience with the leaders in the golf industry – Troon,” said Peter Johnson, SunCal corporate vice president, development. “Residents of the Potomac Shores community deserve the best possible golf experience we can provide and we know that Troon will deliver that experience day in and day out.”

Jack Nicklaus described the course as a ‘masterpiece’, and said: “The vistas are great. The challenges are great. The ‘ooh factor’ is there and the ‘wow factor’ is there.”

Potomac Shores Golf Club will be home to a complete practice facility, including a driving range and a short-game area.
