The second annual Turf Education conference took place in February in the Slovak city of Trnava.

The event, created with the aim of setting up a professional education programme for the golf industry in middle and eastern Europe, attracted turf professionals from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine, Kazan, Lithuania and Bulgaria.

Speakers included Ruth Mann and Andy Cole of STRI, Richard Fortmuller of Environmental Turf Technology, and Miroslav Šigut and Norbert Zaťko of Slovak firm ENGO.

The first day closed with a panel discussion on golf course quality assessment. The second day was devoted to a workshop focused on budgeting and cost planning. The workshop was led by renowned consultant Laurence Pithie.
