American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) president Rick Robbins will join fellow ASGCA members at the Golf Industry Show to discuss the increase in ‘3 R’s’ projects, which stands for renovation, restoration, and resurfacing.
Robbins will lead a discussion on the prevalent topics affecting the industry on Tuesday February 4 as part of the show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
ASGCA members Lester George, Robert McNeil and Jason Straka will also participate in the discussion, which will serve as the annual ‘Trends in Contemporary Golf Course Architecture’ session held each year as part of the Educational Conference at the Golf Industry Show.
The discussion will also cover water conservation and pace of play, with the panel looking at examples in each area showing collaboration between ASGCA members and course managers and superintendents to improve outcomes.
Numerous developments in these areas were highlighted as part of the 2013 ASGCA Design Excellence Recognition Program, and the panel will discuss and examine details from recognised projects.
The panel will also discuss topics such as greater emphasis on practice facilities and short-game areas, designing for maintenance reduction, as well as an international projects update.
The Golf Industry Show begins on February 1 and concludes on February 6.
