A renovation project is taking place on the course at Club de Golf Larrabea in the Spanish Basque Country.
Architect Jose Gancedo originally designed the course, which opened in 1989. The team behind the recent work has tried to maintain the original design of the 18-hole course, which plays 6,490 yards.
Work has been completed on the bunkers and adjacent areas around the twelfth hole, with attention now shifting to the area between the tenth tee and the sixth hole.
The course’s drainage is also being renovated, as some roots of nearby trees had obstructed ducts.
The project will also involve a review of the irrigation system of the course, a vital facet of a course in an area where temperatures can be extremely high during the summer months.
