The new Cabot Links course on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, opened its ten hole preview loop on Saturday 23 July.
Cabot, designed by Canadian architect Rod Whitman, is located in the former mining town of Inverness on the west coast of Cape Breton.
Developer Ben Cowan-Dewar is backed by Bandon Dunes owner Mike Keiser on the project, and the preview opening has proved a successful practice at Bandon. Over 250 golfers played the preview loop on opening day.
Developer Cowan-Dewar has acquired additional land north of Inverness which may be used for a second course as part of the Cabot development, assuming the first course is successful.
GCA visited Cabot Links last year, during the course’s construction phase. Read our review of the project.
