Potomac Shores Golf Club, located near Dumfries, Virginia, will open next week.
The course will be the first publicly accessible Jack Nicklaus signature design in the area.
Located just 45 minutes from Washington D.C, the new par-72 course forms part of the Potomac Shores community and runs along the banks of the Potomac River.
“Potomac Shores Golf Club will offer a truly amazing experience that will be a must play in the Mid-Atlantic,” said Patrick Boucher, director of club operations at Potomac Shores Golf Club. “Whether you are a resident of the community, an occasional golfer or a tournament and event planner, Potomac Shores will serve up a unique golf experience that will keep you coming back for more.”
It was announced in February that Troon will manage Potomac Shores, which also features a driving range, short-game area and new 8,000 sq ft clubhouse overlooking the 18th green.
“We are thrilled to unveil Potomac Shores Golf Club not only to the residents of Potomac Shores but to the golfing world,” said Matt Hurley, vice president of operations for Troon. “We know Potomac Shores will be a special golf experience and are all anxiously awaiting its official opening.”
Jacobson Golf Course Design worked in collaboration with Nicklaus on the project, and the firm’s senior designer Doug Myslinski said that Potomac Shores was an ‘exciting piece of property’ on his Twitter page.
