Perrett team buys St Andrews Beach

The St Andrews Beach course on Australia’s Mornington Peninsula has new owners.

Original developer Golf Club Properties went bust last year, and the Tom Doak-designed course was closed for several months before being reopened as a pay and play venue. Now a new group led by Melbourne-based golf architect Ross Perrett has acquired the course, and plans to continue the venue’s development.

As well as Perrett, the new consortium involves a Chinese investor, a Melbourne-based accounting firm and Golf Services Management, the company that is currently operating the course.

Perrett was involved in the initial development of St Andrews Beach, obtaining the original permits for the course more than ten years ago. The new owners have plans for a new maintenance facility and clubhouse. Permits are in place for a hotel and condominiums, as well as the much-touted second course, but it is not yet clear whether the owners are in a position to move forward on these matters.
