January 16 marks the official opening of the redesigned Pines course in Pompano Beach, Florida – the first municipal course to be designed by Greg Norman's practice.
Pompano Beach mayor Lamar Fisher, along with Norman himself, will open the course, which the city hopes will become a pillar for the community, providing a first class amenity for residents and visitors to Pompano Beach.
The course was original built in 1940, and was most recently redesigned by architects Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge. Norman's course, though, is a complete rebuild.
“My team and I really enjoyed working with the city to deliver a first class public access golf course,” said Norman. “We worked very hard to deliver a golf course that is maintenance friendly and player friendly which will help create a sustainable golf model for Pompano Beach.”
The city also operates the nearby Palms course.
