Work is underway on the next phase of a renovation project at the South Shore Harbour Country Club in League City, Texas.
Located on the banks of Galveston Bay, South Shore Harbour is part of the Canongate Golf Clubs collection and home to 27 holes. US$600,000 is being spent on a three-year project to improve the club’s golf facilities.
The next phase of the project will see the club’s ‘Shore Nine’ will see significant work carried out on the course’s tee boxes, greens, bunkers, irrigation and turf. Renovation work was completed last year on the club’s ‘Harbour Nine’. Work is set to begin on the club’s ‘South Nine’ next year.
Sequoia Greenscapes is managing the project at the course, which was originally designed by Dave Marr and Jay Riviere and was renovated in the late 1990’s by Jeffrey Blume’s firm.
The course’s existing Greenside bunkers will be replaced with new PermaBunker technology, providing better drainage and playability.
“Once complete, this three-year project will elevate South Shore Harbour’s playing conditions to an all-time high, making it one of the premier clubs in the Galveston Bay area,” said Kenn Depew, the club’s general manager. “Our team has received great feedback on the current renovations to date and is excited to start improvements on the Shore course this year. We want to thank all of our members for their patience during this construction period and we are confident that they will be pleased with the end results.”
