A new 18-hole golf course has opened in Casablanca, Morocco.
‘The Tony Jacklin, Casablanca’ forms part of the newly built Bouskoura Golf City complex.
Madrid-based architects Marco Martin and Blake Stirling of the Global Golf Design firm designed the course with the assistance of twice major winner Tony Jacklin.
“Being so close to the development from its infancy as a piece of land to the course we have in front of us has been extremely exciting and it’s great to see the finished product,” said Jacklin. “To be accompanied by such a wide-ranging collection of additional amenities that form part of Bouskoura Golf City, I am delighted with the end result and I’m sure that many, many golfers will enjoy playing here.”
The new course is one of two in North Africa that Martin, Stirling and Jacklin are collaborating on, the other being the Argan Golf Resort. Located near Marrakech, Morocco, the Argan course is currently under construction and due to open later this year.
The new course will be managed by Troon Golf, and Bruce Glasco, senior vice president and managing director of Troon International Operations, commented: “It is extremely pleasing to see our commitment to the country of Morocco rewarded with even more venues choosing Troon in the creation or development of their golf experiences. We will be working closely with the ownership groups and assisting the local tourist boards to develop these destinations for travelling golfers, bringing Troon’s collective strength to the benefit of all our venues in the country.”
An in-depth article on The Tony Jacklin, Casablanca course will appear in the upcoming issue of Golf Course Architecture magazine.
