A new golf course is set to be built as part of a series of developments on the Caribbean island of Barbuda.

Antigua & Barbuda’s fourth governor general Rodney Williams delivered his inaugural throne speech address last week, and said that a memorandum of understanding had been entered with a developer to build a new course, as well as a yacht basin, a new airport terminal and runway, restaurants, shops and other tourism amenities on the island.

If plans go ahead, the course would be the first on the island of Barbuda. There are two courses on the neighbouring island of Antigua – the Ralph Aldridge-design at the Cedar Valley Golf Club, and Karl Litten’s design at the Jolly Harbour Golf Club, both of which are located near the capital of St. John’s.

No architect has been announced as being involved with the project as of yet.
