A new golf course has opened for play in the Jordanian resort of Aqaba.

Ayla Golf Club is home to an 18-hole course designed by Greg Norman Golf Course Design.

The course has been built on a 120-hectare site with numerous sandy features, with views of the Gulf of Aqaba and nearby mountains throughout.

As well as the main 18-hole course, the club is also home to a nine-hole, par three practice course and a golf academy.

Highlights of the course include the sixth hole, where golfers will need to negotiate a large body of water and the region’s strong winds.

The course concludes with the uphill, 470-yard eighteenth hole, where the fairway is flanked by a series of bunkers on one side and lagoons and a creek on the other.

The course will host the MENA Golf Tour in October 2017.
