Celtic Manor’s golf academy has added a new short game practice area.
The new facility, which includes three synthetic All-Weather Golf Greens and All-Weather Practice Tees supplied by Huxley Golf, was unveiled by Arnold Palmer during the KPMG Golf Business Forum.
Celtic Manor has been named the Welsh national centre of excellence for golf coaching. Nigel Edwards, director of player development and coaching for Golf Union Wales, said: “The short game centre is a wonderful facility. The Huxley all-weather surfaces are very realistic, great to play off and remain consistent irrespective of the weather or level of use. They are used for short game coaching of the Welsh Elite and Development squads as well as by individual squad members.”
“This sort of facility is very important in bringing on the next generation of golfers,” said Palmer, who won seven major championships and played in six Ryder Cups. “It’s great to see as many young people as possible being given a start in the game and I hope they all enjoy their golf.”
