Huxley Golf has implemented a number of all-weather surfaces at the recently unveiled Nike Performance Fitting Centre at Archerfield Links in Scotland, UK.
Opened on 7 July by Open-winner Rory McIlroy, the facility provides golfers of any ability with the chance to maximise their potential thanks to a custom-fitting experience that uses state-of-the-art technologies.
The centre provides golfers with expert golf club, ball, footwear and apparel fitting, as well as tuition from Andrew Coltart, Gary Nicol and Alistair Brown.
The Nike Performance Fitting Centre features a number of areas designed to test all aspects of player performance. These include three fitting bays, which include 9 ft circular tees featuring Huxley Golf’s Premier Tee Turf. These tees can accept a tee peg and play like natural grass.
Four smaller bays house 4 ft 11” circular tees that also use Premier Tee Turf, with Huxley Golf Premier Leisure Turf 20 surrounds. An open area measuring 6 ft wide x 60 ft long featuring Huxley Golf Premier Leisure Turf, and a large indoor putting green for technical analysis using Huxley Golf Nylon Indoor Green Turf and measuring 12 ft x 22 ft, also feature.
Tom Younger was responsible for managing the project at Archerfield Links, and said: “The project team set the bar very high to meet ours and Nike’s exacting standards to create this new service, which, if successful, could become a template for similar centres around the world. We were absolutely focused on making sure that aesthetics were matched by quality so I pinpointed the reputable suppliers that I wanted to work with to deliver the vision. When it came to the surfaces underfoot, I went straight to Huxley Golf because I knew they would come up with the goods.”
“We were thrilled to be asked to be involved with this amazing new venture,” said Paul Huxley, director of Huxley Golf. “It showcases the best of British golf from the incredible venue and its hugely talented staff to the industry leading Nike equipment and technologies to our own world-class golfing surfaces. It’s particularly exciting that this facility has been designed for golfers everywhere and I certainly hope that many are able to experience it.”
