British seed supplier Limagrain UK has launched a new Specifiers Handbook, aimed at helping landscape architects choose the right grass mixture for their projects.
The handbook gives technical information and advice on grass species and recommended mixtures for a range of different situations. The 36-page guide includes information on the characteristics of nine key grass species, and suggests appropriate mixtures for landscaping and sports turf, as well as grass/wildflower mixtures for amenity and conservation areas.
It also explains the differences in quality ratings for seed mixtures and provides information on the seed treatment Headstart which helps increase the rate of germination and establishment.
Limagrain’s Craig Spooner said: “The Specifiers Handbook is a very comprehensive guide and of value to anyone involved in selecting seed mixtures for sports areas and general landscaping. For example, it highlights the best type of landscaping mixtures for shaded areas or low fertility sites, and details the options for different types of sports playing surfaces. With this information, landscape architects can be confident that the specifications they make will be fit for purpose.”
