Earthworks have been completed at the new Andermatt Swiss Alps golf project, and preconstruction work on the clubhouse is under way.

German golf architect Kurt Rossknecht has designed the golf course, on a 130 hectare site, of which two thirds is protected conservation land. Construction of the 1,100 sq m clubhouse, which will be located in the middle of the golf course, and will serve as a cross-country ski centre is set to commence in 2012. The facility will open in winter 2013/14.

“The golf clubhouse will be harmoniously integrated in the landscape and will become a favourite meeting point for golfers, bikers, walkers and skiers,” explained Gérard Jenni, the development’s managing director. “The culinary offer will be available to guests year-round.”

This summer, earthworks were completed at the golf course, with ponds filled, fairways and greens sown and the irrigation system installed. As well as the main eighteen hole course, a six hole practice course with driving range is also being built.
