Real Club Pineda de Sevilla, near Seville, Spain, has appointed Clayton, DeVries & Pont to consult on course changes.

Pineda’s first nine holes were laid out in the early 1940s, with the course expanded to 18 in 1993.

Working with Acttua, the club’s agronomic advisor, CDP’s initial brief is to deliver a course renovation plan in around three months. Frank Pont will be overseeing the project for CDP and will be assisted by Hendrik Hilgert and Spanish pro golfer Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño, who is now part of the CDP team.

“CDP has long been known as a market leader in the delivery of successful course renovations, creating improved layouts that are both thought-provoking and fun to play,” said Fernández-Castaño, head of Iberia for CDP. “My colleagues and I very much look forward to commencing this assignment.”

Pont said: “The course provides considerable opportunities for improvement. The green complexes will be a particular area of focus as they are reasonably penal with putting surfaces that have shrunk over time.”

Rodrigo Molina, president of Real Club Pineda de Sevilla, said: “CDP offers us the right combination of internationally tried-and-tested design expertise allied with a local presence. We are very much looking forward to working with Frank, Gonzalo, Hendrik and the rest of the team.”
