Clayton, DeVries & Pont has been appointed as consulting golf course architects at the highly regarded Golf de Fontainebleau club in France.
Set within a forest of beech, oak and pine trees on the outskirts of the town of Fontainebleau, Julien Chantepie laid out the course in 1909, with a substantial redesign completed by Tom Simpson in 1920.
“We are honoured to have been asked to assist Golf de Fontainebleau,” says Frank Pont, partner at CDP. “The course sits on a truly beautiful and special site. In the first instance, we shall be undertaking a full audit of the bunkering.”
Mike Clayton, partner at CDP, added: “Until our recent visit, I hadn’t seen Fontainebleau since I played a Legends Tour tournament there about 10 years ago. The ambience of the site is incredible. It a wonderful place to play golf.”
