Construction of new par three course underway in Czech Republic

Construction of a new six-hole par three course, designed by golf course architect Jonathan Davison, is underway at Golf Park Lhotka in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

The layout is the second phase of a golf development project at the facility. The first phase involved the building of a clubhouse, short game area, 250-metre long driving range with two teeing areas, putting green and adventure golf course.

“It's not a big project but the type of development which is needed across the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland,” said Davison. “Small golf resorts close to cities are needed to introduce the game to new golfers. That is what makes Golf Park Lhotka an important project for me.”

The course has been designed to be enjoyable for new golfers, and it features six par threes that range from 56 to 105 yards.

“There is simple green contouring and minimal bunkering, just enough to give some character to the course,” said Davison.

Construction is being handled in-house, with shaping by Chris Horn, an Englishman based in Ostrava. According to Davison, seeding will be completed in autumn 2018, and the entire project is expected to be finished by the end of the year, ahead of a spring 2019 opening.
