Chenequa CC hires Fry/Straka to develop master plan

Chenequa Country Club in Hartland, Wisconsin, has hired Fry/Straka Global Golf Course to design a master plan for golf course improvements.

Tom Bendelow designed a nine-hole course for the club in 1911. An additional nine was added in 1962, designed by Larry Packard, with Bob Lohmann completing a renovation in 2002.

The club has now turned to Fry/Straka to develop a master plan in order to keep up with the modern game of golf and to meet the demands of its members.

“Chenequa Country Club is an excellent club with great people and lots of history,” said Jason Straka. “We will be studying the classic elements from the original Tom Bendelow design to see which pieces should and could be restored.

“Additionally, the club has extra ground that may yield a par-three course or state-of-the-art short game centre. We’re excited to begin the process of working with the club’s membership to further define their goals and to provide them with an updated facility they will be proud of.”

Patrick Wells, one of the club’s directors and current golf course committee chair, said: “Fry/Straka really impressed us with their attention to detail, the depth and thoroughness of their research and planning phase, and the extensive use of the latest technologies to ensure the best and most efficient use of our property. We certainly recognised their resume and body of work, and they also came highly recommended by several of our members who have worked with them at other courses around the country, including at Erin Hills which is less than 20 minutes away.”
