Bunker renovation to get underway at Desert Willow’s Firecliff course
A bunker renovation project is to get underway later this month at the Firecliff golf course at the Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California.
Some bunkers will removed and many reduced in size as part of the work. New drainage, liners and sand will also be added to each bunker, helping to improve their playability.
Michael Hurdzan, one of the course’s original designers, has returned to Desert Willow to advise on the project.
The bunker renovation is the first part of multi-phase renovation planned for the Firecliff course, with future phases to focus on the tee boxes and greens, as well as turf reduction efforts.
The project is set to get underway on 16 May, with a reopening scheduled for this October.
