Bruntsfield Links completes £1.2 million renovation project
Bruntsfield Links, which lies close to the city centre of Edinburgh, Scotland, has completed a £1.2 million renovation project, including the creation of eight new holes and the redesign of bunkers throughout the course.
The Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society said UK golf architecture firm Mackenzie & Ebert “were charged with the task of preserving past course work carried out by Willie Park Jr., Alister MacKenzie, James Braid and Fred Hawtree, while giving the Open qualifying venue a contemporary feel.”
Over 80 bunkers have been redesigned and repositioned on the course, which is now a par 71 of 6,500 yards.
The twelfth and thirteenth holes have been combined to create a dog-leg par five that plays into a prevailing wind and a new par-three sixteenth has been introduced, which plays over a new pond.

“The improvements were designed to elevate Bruntsfield to be one of the top parkland courses in Scotland,” said club captain David Lawson.
“The works have only recently finished but have made such a difference and have been so well received we’ve surged up the Top 100 Golf Courses list by 69 places. Plus, we’ve seen an increase in membership and now have an extensive waiting list.”
Following the renovation work, the club has agreed a £250,000 investment with Reesink Turfcare for a new Toro greenkeeping fleet.
