Baseball stadium becomes nine-hole course for new golf experience

A new golf experience will open at Petco Park, the home of the San Diego Padres baseball team, next month.

Between 6-8 November, parts of the stadium will be used to create ‘The Links at Petco Park’.

The course begins on a putting green in the home dugout, before golfers make their way to the stadium’s upper deck for holes two to five. Here they will hit shots onto the playing field from various locations.

The sixth hole will move back to field level again, and the seventh hole will take place on the ‘Batter’s Eye’ in centre field.

The eighth hole will feature another putting shot, while the course’s final tee shot will take place on the rooftop of the stadium’s Western Metal Supply Co. building.

The event is sponsored by Callaway, and players will have the opportunity to win prizes such as a new Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver.

“We’re always trying to provide authentic golf experiences with our products that are unique and engaging, and that’s exactly what this partnership with the Padres is about,” said Harry Arnett, Callaway’s senior vice president of marketing. “Playing a nine-hole course at a venue like Petco Park with Callaway golf clubs and balls will be a once-in-a-lifetime round, and we are excited to be a part of it.”
