PROMOTED Capillary Bunkers Booth: 2014 Capillary Bunkers has completed a renovation at The Club at Wynstone, a Jack Nicklaus Signature course in North Barrington, Illinois. “We have high flash bunkers and each time we had hard rain it would take my entire crew three to five days to piece the bunkers back together,” said Stephen Hope, the club’s superintendent of grounds and greens. “After all the work we put in piecing the bunkers back together, they would still have some soupy bottoms creating large inconsistency from bunker to bunker. “I choose liner from Capillary Bunkers because it’s the best product available. Its stable, has a much better warranty, a washbox option and is able to hold sand better on steep faces than its competitors. The washbox addition made it the last bunker renovation the club will need.” Bunker Solution Booth: 1917 Andrew Green’s renovation of East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, was unveiled at the 2024 Tour Championship. The project included the removal, relocation and addition of bunkers across the course. Fairway bunkers have been rebuilt to “demand precision in the line and length of tee shots”. Bunker shapes have been inspired by those created by Donald Ross, and all were rebuilt with liner from Bunker Solution. Director of agronomy Charlie Aubry said: “The big thing for us is how well these bunkers drain and how we can minimise bunker-related labour, day in and out. We have a crew of 36 and we were averaging 10 times a year that the whole crew would be dedicated to bunker repair. Not anymore. That’s a lot of labour that’s now being applied to other areas of the golf course year-round.” Bunkers at East Lake, the host of the Tour Championship on the PGA Tour, now feature liner from Bunker Solution Liner and a washbox from Capillary Bunkers has been installed at The Club at Wynstone in Illinois 91 Photo: Evan Schiller
