Dutchman Frank Pont has been active as a golf course architect since 2003. After qualifying as a civil engineer at Delft Technical University, Frank worked for Shell before earning an MBA at the University of Chicago. This was followed by jobs in consulting after which he became an investment banker heading up Deutsche Bank's worldwide telecoms team. In 2001 he left London to study golf course architecture at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. There he specialised in the classic golf courses of Harry Colt and Tom Simpson, and did apprenticeships with David McLay Kidd in Ireland and Hawaii before and during his study. He has run his own highly successful practice from the Netherlands since then. Frank is currently working with 19 Colt, Simpson and Pennink designed classic golf courses to help them bring back the strategy and style of the original design. Furthermore he has so far built four new golf courses and has more than 15 ambitious projects in the pipeline.
