Lumine to host qualifying

Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community in Costa Dorada has been selected to host the second stage of the European Tour’s qualifying school.

The Troon-managed development will see some of the brightest young players compete in a tournament to earn playing privileges on the 2013 European Tour International Schedule, towards the end of this year.

“We’re delighted for Lumine that this honour has been bestowed upon them as it is testament to the resort’s rapid rise in the golfing world and the hard work and dedication of the management team in place,” said Bruce Glasco, VP and managing director of Troon International Operations.

The course, which was designed by Greg Norman’s firm, joins Las Colinas Golf & Country Club south of Alicante as Troon-managed facilities hosting qualifying school events.

Mike Stewart, European Tour qualifying school director said: “Working with Troon-managed facilities, we are assured of world class course conditions and heightened levels of service and attention to detail that make our jobs that little bit easier. I have no doubt that Lumine will be every bit as good a venue as Las Colinas Golf & Country Club was in 2012.”

Set within 170 acres, players will compete on the Lakes course which takes in Sèquia Major wetlands and has several water hazards.

The club’s general manager Calle Carlsson said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming the stars of tomorrow to Lumine Golf Club, and I can guarantee them a course that will be in great condition over the four days. The golf courses and the entire resort have been set up to headline and showcase major events and I have no doubt this will be the start of something special for both Lumine Golf Club and the Costa Dorada region.”
