The restoration of the Kananaskis Country Golf Course has been given the green light.

The Government of Alberta is committing CAD$18 million to help bring the course back to its former glory following severe flood damage last summer.

Located approximately 50km west of the Canadian city of Calgary, Kananaskis Country Golf Course is comprised of two 18-hole courses – the Mt Lorette and Mt Kidd courses – both of which were originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.

The flooding that took place in July 2013 caused significant damage to all but four holes at the course. The Alberta government is committing to rebuilding the course and protect it from future flood damage.

“The restoration of the Kananaskis Country Golf Course is fantastic news for the golf and tourism industry in Alberta,” said Matt Rollins, executive director/CEO, Alberta Golf. “People come from all over the world to see what Kananaskis is all about, benefiting businesses and other courses in the region. With a reduced rate for Albertans, the value has always been there and I couldn't be happier on behalf of the industry to hear the news today.”
